Got all day sunday off work and plan to fish. I guess at this rate I won't be getting up early as I would for an all day trip. But I will fish....

I need to focus on carp fly fishing for the tournament, otherwise I'd try for rockfish or something.

Was gonna do the Cumberland but haven't even loaded the boat or gear or anything, and I prefer to head out there early before sunrise. Plus there is still chance for thunderstorms and I don't want to be getting everything in the boat soaking wet...

Then there is a good fishin hole in a creek loaded with carp that I was fishing today, but the water went up 4 feet, which screws the fishing up (sight fishing in shallow water only).

Then there are city ponds but not many I know of...

I know there are not a lot of carp fishermen here but I guess I just need a few more ideas to throw around and decide where to fish tomorrow. Normally I would have planned things ahead but since buying a new truck, getting an outboard, and needing to buy and install a hitch and buy a boat trailer... things have been messed up so I won't make the weekly Cumberland trip...

Dang I talk a lot, especially late at night..

Just throw me a few public fishing spots I might want to try. Harpeth is probably up and muddy too. Gotta rely on ponds and lakes. thanks for helping me out... lol
 
I was actually thinking of Priest... I don't know the lake much at all but those are a good start, thanks. Only problem is it's Sunday and people love jet skis and every type of boat out there so I'd have to get into a shallow cove (which I would for carp anyway) and hope the wakes don't screw everything up.
 
sunday mornings are perfect for fishing priest alot less people sunday mornings = church
dont demiss Normandy either early morning by the gates thy tear up top water the first hour or so after daylight
 
Had another great day yesterday. Best 5 (bass) somewhere between 19 and 20 lbs. Caught a ton and found one school on a spot that the last time I caught fish there was about 15 years ago. Good school to. Caught the most on a plastic worm and a lizard, but all the better fish came on a pearl white fat free shad. 7 to 14 feet deep.

Cat - It's just a tough day for carping. You can't really fish most marinas because they are deep and the bank slope isn't gradual. There are carp and buffalo pretty much everywhere, so the key is water conditions and bank slope.

I can't fish the Cumberland on weekends because boat traffic makes waves which pound the bank, muddying up the water. That can be the same for reservoirs if there are enough boats out there. If the water is not very shallow and very clear, forget it. But I heard Priest wasn't too bad yesterday.

If the Harpeth is too muddy, I don't know what to tell you unless you can fish some public ponds. No boat traffic, not much runoff.

If I weren't too lazy, I'd go to Marrowbone today.

I thought of marrowbone too.... Cumberland will be too choppy and muddy along the shore for sure, I learned the hard way fishing on July 4. Looked like it was gonna be good, till the first yacht chugged by.
 
I know nothing about the area you live and fish, but do you have any steam plants nearby? We have a steam plant on the Holston River and the carp really stack up below the dam. Sometimes they are so thick you snag them while fishing for Hybrids and Stripers.
 
I ended up driving all over the place checking out some old spots and new spots. Saw very few carp, caught none, in fact all I caught were 2 shiners, and hooked a tilapia in a local pond but it got off. Slow day...... let the water recede in my new found carp hole another day, should be good to go back out.
