Well I'm wanting to put in a food plot for the first time.Ive cut out all the brush and sprayed weeds and all the prepratory stages. The only thing I'm stuck on now is preparing the seed bed. I don't have any access to a disc or a triller. All I have is a 4 wheeler. Is there anything I can make out of scraps or items found around a house to tear up the ground a little?

Do you have two pieces of rope, a 6' section of chain link and something heavy to sit on top of it?
I think you know where im going with this, depending on the size of the plot, a rake would be also be good to clear away existing dead vegetation, or a controlled burn would be even better.

I made one for about $50 with stuff from Lowes.
What you'll need
1- 4x8 sheet of plywood
2- some 2x4s
3- rebar
Cut the 4x8 sheet of plywood in half so you have 2 - 4x4 pieces.
Cut the 2x4s into 4 foot lenths
Nail the 2x4s on to one sheet of the plywood
Drill holes through boards so rebar can be hammered in
Nail other plywood on the other side of 2x4s
Cut rebar into 6in pieces
Hammer them into drilled holes
The whole thing weight around 80 lbs works fairly well for the money

hey yall them are some good ideas. I have fence and thought about that, but the ground is so tuff I dont think it would penetrate.

4x4 from lowes. about 4 wheeler width. find a way to fasten it to the 4wheeler. Get 12-15 nails/screws about 6-7" long to send through the 4x4. then have some sort of way to weigh the whole thing down. the nails would penetrate good i think with enough weight.

You can buy a cheap aerator from lowes for under 75 bucks and since you have sprayed and killed everything else you can overseed and use the aerator to "punch" the seed in to enough depth to get them to germinate.....
I have done this in my yard for years in the early spring and it is a good way to go for a cheap investment.
