Just joined the forum. Been reading it a few days. Wanted to say Hi.
Also, had a coupla questions for any of you East Tennessee guys... or gals, or anyone else that might know the answer.
Is the rut still going any here in the east... I shot a buck on Nov. 30 at Chuck Swan that was chasin a Doe, and rut seemed to be in full-force. But, unfortunately I've had alot of stuff going on with church and the kids and stuff, whith it being the holidays and all. But everything I'm seeing now seems to say that its over. I'm looking to go again Wednesday. Finally gonna have some time to get back in the woods, and curious about what the deer are doing in this area. I live in K-town but have a spot up in Claiborne that I typically hunt.
 
First welcome to tndeer. I can't speak for east tn but there are a few does here in middle that must be coming back in because I saw a nice buck chasing one on Saturday. Every year here the week before thanksgiving and the week before Christmas seem to be the best as fas as rutting activity goes.
 
Welcome to the forum. I hunt in Sevier County and from the looks of things this weekend compared to the last couple I think we're on the backside of the rut.
I'm sure there will be a few doe's coming in here and there but I think they are past the peak.
Good luck tho still a lot of good hunting yet this year doe days are,coming for this area
 
hey man I live and hunt in Claiborne and Thursday saw four different racked bucks through out the day and all were chasing hard, I think we are in the trickle of the second rut (those does that didn't breed last month) between now and the week after Christmas is a great time to kill a good buck here in Claiborne. if you need anything pm me
 
I appreciate the welcome, and the info. Glad to hear there's some still chasin. The one I got in November was a small 6 point, which I tagged because it was 4:30 on the last day of the drawed hunt. He put some good meat in my freezer, but I'm still hoping for something better. I still have more room in the freezer for another, and want more meat... but I'll be alot pickier, in hopes for a big one... until a coupla days into January. Then I just gotta get something else in the freezer at that point. I got this Wednesday to go up and see how hard the spot has been hit (theres alot of pressure in the area) then I will be hittin the ridge hard after Christmas. Just not sure where yet till Wednesday.
 
welcome! I hunt in knox and morgan co. This past week I saw a group of nine does. the next day a small buck cruising and the day after that a absolute monster cruising for does. First buck sighting in knox county this year for me.. take that for what its worth i guess
