I have been enjoying some fishing videos on Youtube.

Can someone tell me what is the deal with the music people put on their videos? Fishing and heavy metal music? really? That goes together?

Kinda like some doofus deer hunting with heavy metal music.

It just seems to me that heavy metal is the furthest thing from fishing and hunting which are all about relaxation and quiet.

Kinda like playing Enya at a skateboard competition.
 
I agree with you. I guess it's younger folks making the videos and that's their music.

Somebody went to the trouble to tote a video camera on a fishing/hunting trip and all the extra work that entails. Taking care of the camera, charging batteries, wrangling the camera, running the camera instead of hunting/fishing, wrangling EXTRA gear...

They upload the footage, edit, add graphics..... Then blare music that is 180' opposite of the theme of the footage they worked so hard to create, drowning out the audio, and reducing it to an annoying mess. Very much like running unopposed to the 5 yard line and fumbling the ball out of bounds with no defenders in sight.

Would you play bluegrass music in the action scene of Terminator?
How about the Barney theme song in the background during the extra creepy part of the Shining? Ok Barney is creepy anytime but it still doesn't go with the movie.
Maybe some Justin Bieber during the fight scenes in Batman?
 
I've turned off more TV shows and personally made videos because of dumb music choices than most any other reason. It doesn't bother me necessarily, but it certainly makes the video suck. And I just won't continue to watch suckery.
 
yep I see it a lot on fishing and hunting videos on youtube, I keep my videos free of music 99% of the time because it's about enjoying the outdoors, not having a background track. Maybe the heavy metal is their favorite music and makes them think of being on the water having a good time, so to them, it goes with the video.... but really sounds bad to the rest of us.

I've been wondering this lately myself. It's very annoying. I'd rather not watch. People should keep hunting and fishing videos music free.
 
Its probably music that the guys who made the video like ..if i were to make one i would have sweet home Alabama playing .. hit the mute button ..
 
Never made a video, but I have listened to metal while fishing. Mainly mid tempo stuff like Iron Maiden, Down, Black Sabbath, Danzig, and some Metallica. The power of the riff compels me! :grin: For all the power and heaviness, there also some cool melodies. I find some of the quieter acoustic parts just as soothing as good old southern rock or old school country.

Like:

Metallica's "Bleeding Me"

All I need to add to my jon boat is a boat seat, so I have back support, then it will be comfortable enough for me.
 
It wouldnt be any different then me playing country during my videos. Its just there personality. I myself do not like heavy meta, but never would judge anyone that does. And i always say, you dont have to watch, buy, or like anything. So why criticise?
 
If I had the time, I would make a spoof of all the bad hunting/fishing videos.

It should feature "you light up my life" by Helen Reddy.
Followed by something awful by the Bee Gees.

I have a Radio/CD player in my boat. I even play my ipod through it. I wanted that and it was my choice and we live in America so I have that right.
