Hearing Aide Hunting

Went to the VA Clinic at the first of the month. Looks like a hearing aide is in my immediate future. My hearing has sucked for years. Even if its quite out I swear I hear rustling of the leaves behind me. :crazy: Anyone use one hunting? Good or bad results?

I have them in both ears, I hate the hearing loss, a Doctor caused
my Left ear to be almost nothing.

Most hearing aids have the speaker in the rear, so you actually hear more of whats behind you, it has caused me to rely more on site. Turkey hunting is were it really shows up.

I will say, if your not wearing hearing protection, start at once!
Cutting grass, weed eater, etc, I even wear ear plugs in my cab tractor, protect what you have.

Yep. Wore them as a kid until I became stubborn and stopped wearing them. Went back to wearing them a couple of years ago.

As for hunting, I hunt fields, so it really hasn't made much of a difference to me. I hear a lot of birds and squirrels. :grin:

Biggest thing is trusting your hearing aids with gunblasts. Common sense would tell you to take them out when hunting, to protect your ears from the sound of the gunshot. Thanks to modern technology, the hearing aid has a muffler or filter to reduce the sound from the gunblast. That's what my hearing aid doctor told me, and TNDeer member eddie c (I think that's his name) also confirmed this.

I actually experienced this last year. Sure enough, it had some sort of noise suppressor that suppresses sudden loud noises...like gunshots. My ears weren't hurting or ringing (that I remember) after the shot, so I guess it worked.

Get them on 7 Oct. My hearing loss was caused by loud noises and only impacts certain frequencies. They are suppose to help the ringing in my ears too. Sure hope so. Thanks for all the info.
