Landowner just called, said he was back in the woods checkin on cattle and deer wererunning everywhere. Wind sometimes does that to them. Time for some spot and stalk.
Well, the landowner was right. The deer were running everywhere. Runniing is the operative word. To my surprise, I saw an old friend, a shoote rbuck I have seen before. He is not too wide but very tall with very long tines. I estimate him at between 130-140, a nice 10-point.
Also to my surprise, I was ablr to get to within 41-yards of him. In this wind with a crossbow, a 41-yard shot is not an option. As I was trying to figure out some way to get closer, she walked by and pposed at 23-yards. That is an option. She went 20-yards and dropped.
Then, I realized just how far I was going to have to drag her. I going back to bed now.
