I'd say you have a pretty good chance over there. I've hunted on the other side of Edgemoore up between the golf course and subdivisions and I saw a bunch of deer. Not to mention come rut time that part of Edgemoore Road is covered with deer carcasses.

That place is loaded with deer. Many of the deer in that location are hot and make the Geiger counter sing.
Really? Ive lived here my whole life and don't know of a single deer killed in that area that has ever been retained? Where did you find this info? I would love to see the stats. Im not disputing what you say just never heard of a single one?

How does that work? If I kill a radioactive deer do I get to keep it?
Not normally, they used to let some people keep Capes and antlers if they tested clean, but I think they have stopped even that now and retain the whole thing if hot. I know my Dad killed a good one one year in Tower Shielding and they kept the whole thing. I killed a big 8 one yr and it was borderline but I ended up getting to keep it. Both these were several yrs back.

I hunted Oak Ridge 5 or 6 years ago and they had a map of where all the deer were killed. One color for buck, another for doe, and another for hot. There were 4 or 5 hot deer in the Haw Ridge area on the map. This was the last draw hunt of the season with pin points for every deer killed on the map. I haven't been drawn since and can't wait to get drawn again.

There has never been a hot deer killed in Haw ridge. It shows one retained deer from there on the map and I know for a fact the hunter lied when he said it came from there. It was a nice buck and he didn't want anyone to know where he killed it. Haw ridge is as far from the contamination as you can get and still be on the WMA.

Btw, check your PMs. I will be sending you a location to scout. Be prepared for a long hike or take a boat, but there is one spot the deer absolutely wear out in there.
