have you ever been climbing down the tree and get middle of the way down the tree in you climber and have a buck come walking by and has not clue you are pulling your gun back up or trying to get it off your shoulders? just wondering if it ever happens to anybody else have had it happen once makes for an exciting hunt real fast.
 
I have had deer in front of my ground blind when I would go hunt an afternoon. I have to walk over a hill and they usually see me before I see them. But one day a few does didn't see me first :grin:
 
I had a buck step out at 60yds as I was climbing one time�I was about 10ft up at the time. I quickly pulled the gun up and then decided that he wasn't what I was after that day, so back down the gun went and finished my climb. He either had no idea I was there, or didn't care.
 
I have, more times than 1 unfortunately. I have won some of those battles and lost some! I have been pleasantly surprised a couple times at how curious a deer was to a bow dangling on a rope going up or down!!

Maybe a few times but that was when i was getting down out of the tree to early.I am sure it will happen again as deer seem to do what you least expect when you least expect it
 
I once had a deer walk up on me in the dark while I was at the bottom of my tree puting on extra clothing (morning hunt). Never did see it, but I could hear it shifting it's weight in the dry leaves as it stood not 15 feet behind me. Drove me nuts...
 
I was climbing up a tree, gun slung over my back when a yote came up. He would trot a few steps, then stop and look back at me. About the third time he did this, I quickly unslung my rifle and when he stopped, I let him have it. He was not a wily coyote like most of them, so I helped out the gene pool by getting rid of him.
 
Yes! Happen to me in dekalb county with a muzzle loader! I was coming down a ladder stand and was about third from the bottom. Look over to the left and a 8 point was standing 7 yards away in a logging road. I had to finish climbing down and make the shot at 10 yards quatering away! Deer fell 25 yards away! Deff one of the most exciting, heart pumping hunts ive been on!

And like Winchester, sometimes it went well, other times not.
I am CONVINCED that during the rut, bucks OFTEN react to the sound of me climbing up or down the tree, ESPECIALLY a noisy pine tree, and must thimk it is a fight between two bucks.

In 2007, I made it all the way to the bottom of the tree, dropped my coveralls to my ankles, heard something coming off the ridge behind me, turned and saw a big bodies racked buck trotting off the ridge STRAIGHT at me.

I quickly untied my bow rope, nocked and arrow, and shot it through the heart at FIFTEEN yards.
 
Happened two to me with abow. Both times in the same stand in IL. Same buck (I think), both times. Once in the morning, oce in the afternoon. Never did kill him.
 
I was running late one morning and was halfway up the tree and looked behind me to see a little 7 point watching me, he went home with me that morning
 
Numerous times. I think they hear the bark scraping and think a buck is making a rub. They come to investigate.
 
About 11 years ago I was hunting one evening with my dad's Ruger Blackhawk 44 mag 10 1/2 inch bbl loaded with 44 Special rounds. As I was climbing down from a very tall homemade stand a seven point came trotting up and sopped about twenty yards away. I was about halfway down the ladder but able to draw the buntline and put a silvertip into the buck's neck. He dropped like a stone.
