Ever considered using a 7.62mm X 39 for deer hunting? How well did it do if you have? I got one coming in a few months that I might consider hunting with on occassion.

I shot a doe in Georgia about 15 years ago with an AK.... killed it just fine....

honestly if I could find a nice Bolt action chambered for that round I would consider it for under 200 yard work...

One of the guys I work with has one in a Ruger 77 his son has killed truck loads of deer,yotes with it. Isn't it about the same power wise as a 30-30. I thought I read that somewhere.

They shoot about the same velocity when you use a 150gr in the 30-30 and a 125gr in the 7.62x39. I took a SKS deer hunting when I was younger, but never had a chance to shoot a deer.

I shot a deer with a 7.62X39mm SKS once. The doe was about 100ft away and I hit her right in the boiler room. She laid to rest about 100 yards from where I plugged her.
