Hatchie Quota Hunts?

One of my coworkers hunted both days and saw little deer movement and killed nothing, and another one of my buds hunted both days and killed a nice 3.5 year old Sunday morning that gross scored 144" and weighed 186 lbs on the hoof. These are the only two reports I have received thus far.

Haven't talked to anyone that hunted, but drove past the check station several times this weekend. There were always several trucks there and I saw a decent buck on the front of a boat checking in.

Can water levels at Hatchie rise fast enough for someone to get stranded?

When I worked in MS, Hillside NWR was a corps of engineers silt containment project. It's basically 15,000 acres at the base of the MS delta bluff ringed in by a 10 mile levee. If the creeks draining through the refuge received rain back in the hills, look out. The water could rise scary fast

We had all kinds of situations involving hunters and refuge personnel getting stranded. The refuge forester was overseeing a reforestation project, left a refuge tractor parked overnight, it rained, and the next day he had to swim to get to the tractor.

On our hunts, we would sometimes have hunters cross a creek and in a matter of hours not be able to get back across. I even heard the story of a hunter who had to be rescued by boat. He was stranded in a climbing stand, the water was rising, and he was running out of tree.

hunted both days, saw 6 deer total. Wasn't able to get a shot off.

Buddy killed 2 deer. Wasn't near as many shots as I expected to hear.

If you are in any kind of thick stuff the sign is great. Heard a few reports of deer starting to chase, didn't witness any myself. I would expect it to be in full blown chase mode this weekend.
