Has anyone ever covered there food plot with straw after seeding? Any pros or cons on it?

Have planted plenty of plots with dead fescue that hadn't been disced completely under and it didn't have a negative effect, but don't think it helped anything either. Only way I could see it helping is to keep the seed from washing on a side of a hill.

Introducing weeds to the plot would be the con.
Hay would have weed seeds but straw shouldn't. If you could get wheat straw at a reasonable price it would probably work well and not have a tremendous amount of weed seeds in it. If you have to buy your straw from a landscape supply or a farm supply store it would probably be cost prohibitive.
