Got a combine harvesting beans in an adjoining field about 700 yards away. What affect if any could that have on deer movement this evening? Anybody have any experience hunting while crops are being harvested?
 
700 yds away? Would not bother me one bit unless I was expecting all of the deer to come from the other side of the combine...
 
Shot a good 7 last night in a field next to a field being harvested. Has zero affect IMO we are on a tractor quite a bit doing hay and bush hogging and stuff and I always see deer off a tractor. Hunt you may be surprised.
 
I've sat on fields actually being combined and from the time the machinery left the field to the time the 1st deer came out: 17 minutes.
 
Machinery doesn't bother deer IMO. In fact some say it may very well attract them. They are the
most adaptable big game animal in North America.

I've ran the combine before or the tractor wagon hauling in the grain and all they do is keep moving over or walk around the combine and watch it go by. I've personally never seen one run from it or the tractor and wagon hauling, they may go to a near by fence row of waterway and lay down until your done, but it doesn't spook them away.

I've seen deer while field work was being done. I once was walking in mid afternoon wile bush hogging was being done and the deer were rutting. Multiple times I watched as a couple of bucks chased does around the field. They were so involved in the rut and oblivious to the noise I actually walked up to within 30 feet of one of them before he took off after the does again.
 
Biggest deer I ever saw in my life was from the seat of a John Deere 9500 combine shelling corn. Freakin thing was HUGE and never moved as I passed by.
 
I killed a deer Friday, not 20 minutes after the combine finished up in that one pocket. He was still in the field when I drug him out. This deer turned from mammal to vacuum cleaner as soon as he hit the field.
 
Deer pay very lil attn. to Combines, at times barely even moving out of their way. I rode one for a few hours in Pike co Ill one year and was amazed!
