Unless I did something wrong, opening weekend:
2017-7020

Maybe all of yesterday's aren't checked in, but yikes!
 
Dam, all of my folks who were out were blanked. Most didn't even hear a peep. Weather was great Saturday and not so great yesterday. I'm optimistic it's not as bad as it seems but those numbers are ugly
 
I talked to some people at the state whose job it is to know about these things affer the Juvy numbers came out. I was told they are having issues with some of the kills uploading from the new app to the online system. I REALLY hope that is correct, but honestly I'm skeptical of that explanation.

I agree. My fear is they are blaming a new app as a possible explanation instead of facing the reality of gross mismanagment. And if it is the app they need to figure it out and release the real damn numbes asap.
 
After reading all the past posts on here about the decline in some parts of the state, I wondered I'd the eastern half was going to be affected. Talked to several at work this morning and all of them complained about low numbers.
 
If this is a app issue then it's consistent. The juvi numbers are approx 1/2 from last year and now the statewide numbers are 1/2.

I'm having a hard time believing a technology glitch but I truly hope it is the reason.

Just checked and it's 2696 total kill this weekend. So from 7020 in 2017 to 2696 in 2019. Boys it aint looking good.
 
I wouldn't doubt that something is wrong with the app. Unless I am wrong it shows no birds killed at Chuck Swan? I don't believe that at all ( pictures are on here) .On a good note it shows one bird at Catoosa and it's not even open yet! I am guessing the ole boy that checked that bird in got a rude awakening! I think I am going to go ahead and keep hunting them and hope that it's a technical problem!
 
There is a definite problem and it's been evident for several years now. They can "technical glitch" all they want until restocking is the only way to re-establish the turkey population.

There have been very few birds killed at Chuck Swan. And if it's like it has been the last few years, Chuck Swans figures are not released until after the season. Why that is I don't know.

I don't think Chuck Swan has a computer system. Their numbers will not show up till later. The deer I killed there in December still hasn't shown up on my harvest log. The turkey I killed in 2015 never showed up on my harvest log either.

Because just like the deer they are paper checked, there is no check in machine at the swan it's all hand done.
 
That explains Chuck Swan, for some reason I thought they had a machine but it makes sense now if they use paper. I knew birds had been killed. I still hope it is a glitch of some sort.
 
My evil plan of everyone getting frustrated and giving up the sport is almost complete. It would then leave all the land me and me alone (insert evil grin and laugh)

Been trying to get Twra to listen for years to no avail. Sounds like the rest of the state is experiencing what southern middle tn has been experiencing for several years. Smh
 
At this point last year 8200, this year 4277. If that rate continues, total harvest will be just short of 13000? I can believe it if the rest of the state is like my corner of Hickman County. This kind of dramatic decline must be a computer glitch right? Let's see what the numbers are after the second weekend.
 
If it's a computer glitch it's putting the numbers at about 50%...I'm not a computer glitch specialist but that just sounds like a odd glitch to me.
Either way, I hope it is a glitch.

I've spent the last two mornings in complete silence. There's no sign, no talk, the woods are turkey free. These are places that historically you could hear 20 birds on a perfect morning like today.

There is a glitch and it's in the minds of the management team over turkeys. We've probably hit the point of no return for many many years unless there's drastic changes
 
Is it just me, or is the TWRA Hunters Toolbox junk at the moment? I have tried accessing it several times over the last week, on different computers, and different browsers, all to no avail. If you have a website, especially a live database website for public use, maintain it properly, or take it down. It's very frustrating to say the least.

Your plan worked on me! I still love it but havent hunted in the past 3 years, and only 1 time the year before. 3 years ago was the last time I had a single turkey on trail cam and haven't seen or heard one in that time either. The 1 time I hunted 4 years ago, I decide to try public. Had a bird gobbling on the limb about 500yds away. After I eased my way in his direction and got set down I hear a truck crank behind me and start driving towards him. He flies down in my direction and we start talking. Every time he gobbles the truck starts, drives closer, stops and listens again. So I shut up hoping he will come but not gobble. He is slowly heading my way at about 80yds but won't shut up. One of the guys from the truck crawls up from behind him and shoots him, sprints out to grab him heads back to the truck and spins tire out of there before I even really grasp what happened. That was enough for me on the public around here. I enjoy reading everyone's stories now.

I had been hunting that public ground for years, with some great experiences and many others similar to that one. I realized that day I didn't care to be involved in those incidents any longer.

I've been using it off and on basically daily without any problems to check harvest data. I have gone back through the past couple years, and the progress of the harvest reports this year matches the progress in past years...through the first six days of the season, roughly 33% of the total harvest each year. If that holds for this year, we are looking at a total harvest of 13000. That is a problem. Is it because the website sucks or nobody checks in anymore? I don't know, but I can speak about the virtual collapse of the turkey population in my area practically overnight. Fall/winter of 2017.
