If any of you own a '99-'06 Twin Cam with 15k+ on it and have never inspected the cam chain tensioner shoes..............I suggest you do so.

Pending on the amount of mileage you put on a yr. it is recommended the be inspected every 10k and replaced every 20k if needed. I would suggest the Hydra chain tensioner kit from "Flying W Performance" if you rake up miles and don't want to be bothered with the frequent inspections/replacements, also the piece of mind.

Friend of mine had his checked at 20,000 and they were in pretty bad shape. Don't remember what he put back though. Will tell him about the "Flying W Performance" kit.
What did they do to correct the problem in 07 and later models??

Harley realized the problem and in '07 introduced the new hydro tensioner that has performed very well for them.

This kit is an upgrade for the '99-'06 Twin cams to eliminate the two chain tensioners and replaces the entire old style with the new Hydro tensioner.

It comes complete with every thing you need to do the job, including Andrews cams that you choose for your application. Andrews makes a similar kit as well, but I feel Flying W Performance has a much better customer service feel to them. The owner is a mechanic/Tech, he actually does the hands on installs for customers and has one of the best dino testing reputations around.

The entire kit is $499.00, If anyone needs more info. just PM me and I will send you the guys email and info.
