Since the subject has been beaten a bit,
thought would just start a new thread to beat it some more šŸ˜ƒ

Was just now thinking, geez,
I'm so glad turkey season didn't open this year on Easter Weekend!

And I'm so glad to have some good early April fishing days

without conflict from my "need" to be turkey hunting
before other hunters have killed most the birds.

Looking forward to Opening Weekend!

I prefer the earlier date, but don't get tore up about it. I always go fishing with my dad the week of the current opener. He's 82 and we've been going this same week for 40+ years. He doesn't take too well to change and I'm not sure how many more years he'll be able to make the trip. I'll give up opening week with no complaints.

Looking good and right on time for me.in TN. Big winter flock just broke up 2 days ago, and the hens are scouting my farm looking for nesting sites and pulling the toms with them. They are still bunching back up into the winter flocks in the afternoon and roosting all together right now, but in another week a few hens should have established a nest on my farm and stay there to keep the toms coming in to check them daily.

I'm pretty tired tho. Up to 54 miles and hunted 15 out of 17 days so far. Hiked 7.5 miles yesterday. Only gobble this weekend was 400y across the line. Got him pretty worked up and thought I had a chance, but got cut off by a real hen.
