I might have found this here years ago, but I was using it today and thought I would pass along for anyone that hasn't seen it.

Download vtree
It's Virginia tech tree ID app. You can put in your location and see trees in that area. You can search for "oak" and it will only show you types of oak trees

I've used it in the past, but it's been a few years. VT's Dendrology website was a solid reference 20+ years ago.

If it's the same one I had on my old Android, you can enter data you know about the tree and it will narrow it down for you.

For example, one of my Hickories came down in a storm, I had no idea what it was. Ran it through the app and it came out it was a Bitternut Hickory. Pretty cool app. I need to see if I can get it for my iPhone 12.
