Has anybody tried the Lee Handpress? I want to get back into reloading, but I don't have the space for a full bench right now. I can scavenge my fly tying bench for a short time in order to do some minimal volume of reloading. Thoughts, comments, suggestions, smart remarks?

I use my Lee hand press way more than my bench mounted press. I use the Lee hand primer too so I haven't tried priming with the press. I mostly neck size so I'm not sure how much fun it would be full-length re-sizing magnum cases. It's great for loading up rifle ammo in the living room watching TV when it's cold out in the garage where my loading bench is.

I just started reloading back in October with a Lee hand press. I load for 357 and 308 and everything fits in a 12x12x36 tool box. I have the same space issues that you mention. I before i sent my fiftieth bullet down range i was printing .38in 5-shot groups. I think that the Lee hand press works great for low volume and low space reloaders.
If you have any questions let me know as i just started from scratch.
Be good and ask Santa real nice,

thats why my bench is in the basement next to the King wood stove,,

lol..

Dang, this is downright inspirational! Glad to see the pic of your leveling space for the scale, sneakboxer. Good point about full length resizing, Hogbear. Since I'll only be reloading a 308 in rifle, looks like I may have caught a break. All of my other reloading wants will be pistol. I'll keep all the geography in mind when I get the opportunity to build a full-service bench, mr. big. I'm not much in favor of putting a lit match in charge of dynamite. Thanks for the valued input!

O come on now 700Rem308, you put Stovepipes steel topped bench and Mr. Big's wood stove together in Sneakboxer's livingroom.............what could possibly go wrong????????

LOL.........

Just a thought you could mount a press to a board or something and clamp it to a table when using. and I have seen a prtable stands that compack down for transpot or rolled out of the way.

I am SOOOOOOO glad i found this thread!!! I was looking at buying a lee hand press and now i am definately gonna get one!! I have room in my garage for a bench press but the thought of being inside at night after the kids go to bed or even letting them "help" is really appealing!!
