If yall were going to buy a handgun what would yall get. Or what do you have. I am have been looking and I like the Glock 22, the Springfield XD in .40 SW and the other day I saw a Sig P229 and that was pretty sweet. But I am open to suggestions. I am not set on any one of those so lets hear some choices and a reason why.

Lots of variables to consider.

I have a Glock 19 in 9mm. It's a compact, I can carry it easily, and the ammo is cheap enough to where I practice constantly with it. For carry I use Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P ammo.

I also have a 5 shot S&W J-Frame that I carry during the summer in a pocket holster. It has some wicked recoil after a while at the range, but with some practice it's a nice, accurate carry piece. Again, Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel ammunition.

If I were going to add another to the collection I'd probably get either a Glock 26 (Sub-Compact 9mm), Glock 27 (Sub-Compact .40 S&W), or the Parkerized Springfield Mil-Spec 1911 with the flared and lowered ejection port...just because everyone should have a 1911 for the heck of it. And that's coming from a die hard Glock fan.

Best thing you can do is handle and if possible shoot some of the ones your interested in. From the sound of it your already looking at quality guns just find the one that fits you and has the features you want :)

I have 2 Sigs that have been 100% reliable and extremely accurate. My Dad has or has owned almost every model of Sig out there and has yet to have a misfire of any sort out of all of them. I also have an XD40 that I just bought and havent put many rounds through yet, but so far I like it. Glocks are good pistols, but the grip angle on them doesnt agree with me, and I tend to shoot them high compared to my Sigs, XD, or Kimber 1911 when natural point shooting.

It could be all three. I will certainly shoot it at the range but I am not wanting a gun for competeing or anything. Most likely it will serve as a car/carry or home defense gun. I am going to go try to shoot the XD the Glock and the Sig sometime this week at a local shop. Guess I will shoot those three and then maybe a few others they recommend and see what I like after that. Any others I should add on to the must try list?

I absolutely love my Glock 17. It's a little large for carrying but is reliable, accurate, and cheap to shoot. My carry gun is a Kahr P45. Lightest 45ACP pistol and small enough to conceal with tons of stopping power. Surprisingly the recoil is not bad.

Although I am a big fan of the sigs I would choose either the glock or XD of the three you mentioned and for the purpose you described. The Sig is a little on the heavy side.

I would take a look at the subcompact versions. I prefer the XD because it has a better trigger feel and the proper grip angle (for me). I have a .40 XD subcompact that is dream to shoot, and is especially controllable, even more so that the service model.

I've had my my Glock 22 for over 15 years and I really like it, but it's a little big for conceal carry. My buddy has the 23 and it's a little easier to conceal but still easy to shoot and handle.
A J-frame or Kel-Tec P-3AT works good for summer carry but not much fun to shoot at the range. The Glock 22 mostly stays in the nightstand when not at the range.

I found a Sig P229 in .40 that is the newest model, it is used in excellent condition with night sights and 3 high capacity rounds and its original case. Two questions is 600$ a good deal for this or is it too good of a deal and I should watch out. And 2nd is there anyway I can judge it for wear and tear on the inside?
