What's the process to join a gun trust that's already established? Is it quicker to go that route than to start one from scratch? Once in a trust is there still a waiting period when you purchase NFA items?

I don't have the answer to your first and second question but can tell you there is still a waiting period currently even with a trust.
You will still have to get fingerprints with the 41f update back in 2016.
