Marlin 917V topped with a BSA Sweet 17 scope. Just needs rings and a box of ammo.

After looking at the same 4 rifles over dozens of trips to benton shooters supply I finally broke down and bought one.

Does Marlin still have the Micro-Groove barrel. I use to have one in .22WMR and that was an accurate little rifle.

Congrats Don't know about that one but marlin does still use mirco groove rifleing on some models.

My wife got me a savage model 93 in .17 cal. with the bull barrel and synthetic stock for Christmas, Now I'm look'n for a decent scope with a fine set of cross hairs to top it off, cant wait to get it all set up....look out cats.

Good gosh if you bought it down at Benton you paid out the rear end for it too. They are about $100 more than everybody else on their guns. Nice looking gun though; I probably have held those same 4 you spoke of.

GunBroker has been the best/worse thing to happen to me in gun buying. I've figured out though that Carmen up at Fugates can get you just about anything you want for right there around the average price you find on GunBroker. Which is usually $100 on the dollar lower than Benton.

Looks a might bit heavy for serious squirreling but should be good at laying on a bench. Now, since you set it up as a target gun you need to invest in an aftermarket trigger because if it is stamped with marlin, I bet it has an 8 pound trigger
