I am considering a 12-20 gun fire safe. What experience have the people here had with Winchester? Liberty? Browning? Mesa? Your information is appreciated since none are carried in Shelbyville.

get twice the size you think you'll need. liberty would be my choice.

Like hwe said get twice bigger than you think you need. I have Liberty don't know about others, but am well satsfied. Had a locksmith tell me the Liberty had the best garntee.

Pay attention to the thickness of the steel and rateings when compareing brands and models.
You might want to check out Champion and any guarnatee they have that a friend of mine was telling me about a while back.If what he said is right it would be worth it,bad thing is I don't remember what he told me.

I've had a Winchester safe for about 15 yrs now with no problems. I don't remember the model# but it weighs 860lbs empty. And if it claims to hold 24 long guns your gonna have a bunch of scratched up guns if you try to get that many in there. A 24 gun safe will hold about half that many without banging them up. Whatever you get buy the largest you can afford.

Lots more home burglaries than house fires and even with the best fire rating you're gonna have things damaged/destroyed inside the safe.

get the biggest you can afford, bolt it to the floor and lot of old tube socks to cover the gun barrels .
