Gun build question

I have a newer Remington 700 sps tactical in a 308 and a savage model 11 in a 223. I'm looking to build a 260 and wanted to get some input and ideas on which platform to use. I have not shot either of the guns very much and they just sitting in the safe. Any advise or ideas?

After market parts easier to get for the 700.

Two different bolt sizes, so for a 260 the .308 will be easier to build from.

Can't build a .260 off a .223 bolt. Savage makes their model 10 predator in a .260. Has a fluted bull barrel. Camo stock. Don't know what your purpose of the build is for tho. But that would cost just as much as having the 700 reworked. What are your plans for the build?

I would deer hunt with it and target. Kinda just wanting to build a gun to be honest. Could probably by a savage 260 and trick it out for the same money, but i thought it would be a good project. Could you change the bolt face out on the 223?

Swapping the barrel will be allot cheaper also. You can actualy do it yourself if you are mechanically inclined at all. Be careful if you take it to a gunsmith. They may try to charge the same amount they would to swap out the remington. I sent mine to sharp shooter supply and they swapped it out for $50. You can order a shilen barrel from midwayusa also or spend a little extra and get a mcgowen barrel or an er shaw barrel.
