It's not official but he is trying to ban semi autos . Then sometime in future all guns then after that , we got a snowballs chance in the devils living room !

Will never happen!

Considering we have a republican house and a majority pro-gun senate along with the recent SC rulings and I think the odds a weapons ban getting traction is slim. I also think any attempt at another weapons ban will include grandfathering existing firearms that are already owned.

Quote from a "friend"
Any future AWB that doesn't have a grandfather clause would be extraordinarily costly to enforce and results would be, at best, inconclusive and unverifiable.

If results aren't quantifiable and the government spends billions trying to seize every "assault weapon" in circulation, justifying an AWB to the population at large, considering the current fiscal issues, is political suicide for his party. Before committing to an AWB, Obama has to ask himself questions like "what happens if we do this very expensive thing and gun crime doesn't decrease? How do we explain that? How do we justify spending that money?".

Even the DoJ's very own report on the last AWB stated that the effect was so small it was probably immeasureable in large part because AW's are rarely used in crimes.

A total AWB would be akin to trying to put all the water back in the Hoover dam after it broke; there's simply too much, you'll never get all of it, you'll never know how much you've missed, it's going to take a long time, and it'll be expensive as hell.

I think it's just the rumor mil trying to scare everyone. Kinda like the end of the world is in two weeks...

The Sky is falling!!!
If 1/100th of the crap you heard and read on the internet was true. Anyone have ANY actual evidence that anyone is trying to ban semi-auto guns? That's just ridiculous. the president is a jackass but most of the what you hear is just propaganda that people make themselves believe because they're paranoid.

This has nothing to do with "serious deer hunting" and should be moved to the political forum.

Full autos have been banned from civilian ownership for a while in one way or another under the Nat'l Fireams Act of 1934, Gun Control Act of 1968 and the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986.

To own a full-auto or component parts, you have to have them registered with the feds and they must have been manufactured prior to May 19 1986. This in addition to the application, background check, and tax you pay to the govt.

A full auto ban isn't news. A ban on semis would be a different story.

I would be really upset! I just bought a custom AR this year and my dream rifle a BAR. Almost $3K worth of guns, scopes, and accessories!

Yes, and you just told the entire world about it. I'm just glad I got rid of all my guns.

Our government knows what is best for us....don't they? They want to take care of us and protect us from these evil weapons.......don't they? Everyone knows that if you ban certain guns, no more crimes will be commited by them and you will be safe. Won't you?

True story: This guy at work had just saw some news about a reporter getting shot downtown and he said quote " If it wasn't for all these handgun permit laws that allow everybody to carry guns, this would have never happened" ... :) You just have to figure out who is FOS and who is not before you start believing them.

Merry Christmas....and pray for the next 4 years.

Your First Christmas Card.....

I love Christmas lights! They remind me of.....
"the people who voted for Obama......."
They all hang together; half of them don't work,
and the ones that do, aren't all that bright!

Here is what I came up with

Californias United States Senator, Diane Feinstein, has outraged Second Amendment advocates with the news of her plans to introduce a new law to ban all assault weapons, high capacity magazines, and pistol grips. Unlike the ban on assault weapons enacted under Bill Clinton, the bill would eliminate grandfathering, possibly requiring all Americans to surrender any banned items they owned prior to the passage of the proposed law. The still unseen law raises the specter of government agents knocking on citizens doors and demanding the surrender of previously legal guns and other equipment.

There is a ton of money to be made by both sides by just keeping these rumors of gun bans going. After all, money is the real reason why both sides are fighting this fight. Nobody wants to win, just keep the battle ongoing for years so they dont put themselves out of a job.
