I made a squirrel/shrimp gumbo and took it to the duck blind......they are still talking about it. I don't care if it's hot or cold out, gumbo is the bomb!

Looks delicious, thanks for sharing. Love some good authentic gumbo. My FIL is from Rayne, LA and he makes a killer gumbo. He has to bring ingredients from Louisiana when he visits us in Tennessee because "he can't get the good stuff" at our local grocery stores. We eat gumbo year-round too.

We do have okra coming out our ears right now. I might make up a batch of gumbo this weekend when it "cools off" to the upper 80's. I always add in some ice cold tater salad before serving anyways.

Just noticed, that's Cholula hot sauce in the second pic! You put Mexican hot sauce on gumbo???? No Crystal or Louisiana??? You just lost your credentials for gumbo.

I vote rice. That squirrel gumbo I mentioned , after I boill the squirrels to get the meat off the bone I use the water for the gumbo and the rice, too much goodness to pour it out in the sink!

Yep, rice is served, but potato salad is always on the table. My neighbor even has bowls with a "ledge" that she can place her potato salad on. Crazy Cajun.
