My son has had a fishing trip for 4 chartered out of Gulf Shores and hasn't used it. His booking expires in the next 6 months and he wants to use it before he loses it. Neither he nor I have ever been deep sea fishing. Is it too late in the year for good fishing? I figured it would be too cold during the winter (and I'll be deer hunting) so how's the September fishing? The boat is already paid for and all we have to do is pay for gas down there and back. Any tips?

Still plenty of good fishing, even into the winter months. How long is the charter for? If it is just a 4 hour charter, near shore bull reds are a blast.

X2

Down here right now, fish not doing much. Wait until October and hammer some big reds.

He said it's a 3 hour trip out to where they fish and then 6 hours of fishing.

See if they go after snowy grouper and tile fish in deep water. Nothing like having 800' of line out! Just make sure they have electric reels!
