Growing potatoes?

I've got a few cuttings to try and plant for the first time this year. I am going to plant them in tires by piling them up as they sprout and then knocking tires over on down the road.


Any advice? Ive never grown taters before and hear that there are some bettles that are tough on them. Thanks in advance!

never grown them in tires but we always just cut up taters with a couple eyes on them and plant them in rows cut down and cover them up and in about 3-4 weeks they should be up.we usually plant them around mid feb-early march when ever weather lets us and the sign is right.
