Never hunted in a pop but I bought one to take my daughter or for rainy days. My question is; do you guys set em out for a while to let the deer get used to it or do you just pop it out plop in and kill. I will be hunting brushy field edges and hardwood benches on ridges.
 
Depends on if you have time to leave them. I've hunted in them after putting them up that day. They will see them for sure, but don't seem that bothered. They will also recognize after awhile whether the Windows are open or not.
 
If you have the advantage of setting one out and brushing it in a little I would do that.

You could also scout an area and have some brush ready to throw on it if you have to pack it in that morning.

Set it up at home and let it air out for a few days.
 
I've had deer run into the next county once they see my pop up blind. It has to be set up a few weeks prior to hunting it. The only exception would be rifle season. You might get by hunting with one and shooting a deer 250-300 yards away.

In the woods it's a fruitless endeavor IMO to hunt it the day you set it up.

Even if you brush it in real good the deer will spook at the brush pile hiding the blind. They live in those woods, we don't. They instantly pick up on changes.
 
Not discounting what you said UTGrad but I have experienced both. Have had deer walk within 15 yards of a blind I had set up that morning and have had deer see it and and either ease out of the area or bolt.

I almost always hunt it the day I set it up and have had little to no issue with it. Both my dad and step dad hunt out theirs a lot and have had deer stick their head in to see what is up. If you have time to set it out, then by all means do so, but I have had no issues hunting setting up and taking down in the same day.
 
Killed many a good buck in the woods out of pop up put up that day. Especially this time of year Truth is during the rut you could possibly get by hunting in a lazy boy in the wide open. Old big boy aint thinking straight this time of the year.

It might work for some but didn't for me. I did have a button buck come right up to my blind one time. I don't really count that as a successful encounter cause he was so young and didn't know any better.
