Well man and I braved it and went to Garrett Lake.
We were in our first cove and were trying to figure out what the bass wanted and after seeing a couple small swirls I put a cricket on and pitched it close to the bank.
30 seconds later I had two keeper bream and a bass that weighed almost a pound.
I ended up with 1 bass and 23 bream / shellcrackers.
Man had 18 total.
Mixture of bream / shellcracker, 2 short crappie
1 small bass and a skipjack.
At about 5:00 he said lets go around the cove one more time then head home.
I agreed and about the time we hit the cove I heard it thunder in the distance.
I said, the rain is coming again, look towards the levee.
He said yep lets get out of here.
We got the boat loaded and everything put away and got back in the truck and the bottom fell out.
Between there and Dresden we drove through some of the hardest rain I have ever been in.
We timed that just right.
Awesome awesome day, fish are on ice to be cleaned tomorrow.
Might hit it again tomorrow after church.
Sure am glad we risked it.
Man is a natural at backing the boat trailer and runs the trolling motor better than me.
I just sit in the back of the boat and fish.
Very thankful this evening.
Oh and speaking of thanks, shout out to tophat for the use of his motor.
Works like a charm man.
Ain't gotta worry about me running over much with it, my boat is supposed to have a long shank motor.
Works perfectly for what we need and runs like a sewing machine.
