Today was full of deer movement in Pike county Illinois. I'm heading back to TN in the morning and thought I was going to pull off the last hour of the last day kill. The morning produced 29 deer sightings all around my stand with the highlight being a 150-160 inch 10 pointer bedding down with 2 does 65-70 yards from me. Too thick to pull off such a risky shot, not to mention the buck was laying down with his back to me. I should've got aggressive and slipped out of the stand and closed the distance to 40-50 yards. I would have had a nice broadside shot once he stood. Switched stands to a cut corn field with some standing corn still in it to finish out the day. Seen another 19 deer including a good 45 minutes of the albino deer "snowflake" eating right in front of me. Then a beautifully symetrical 8 pointer nicknamed "chipmunk" due to some large growth around his jaw line and side of face. He isn't the biggest in the woods, scoring around the 135 mark, but still a great deer to tag out on. I had him broadside at 55 yards but made a novice mistake of not holding my aim slightly lower. The buck jumped the string and I clean missed him right over the back. I would have hit him perfect had I not made such a foolish error. Clean miss is always better than a bad hit in my opinion. I took several photos and a little video of snowflake so I'll share a couple with you guys again. I'm heading back tomorrow to knock out a few deer in TN before season end. This is usually prime time for Knox county area and hopefully I'll be able to get some good hunts in on my west TN farm as well. Oh yeah, Snowflake is actually hanging around other deer this time. She came in by herself but the other deer were already in the field. Didn't seem like they minded or shunned her at all.
