Along with a surprise. Been a crazy week and I haven't got to post all my hunts and pics, but should be able to catch up in the next few days. Had a local farmer contact me a while back about a calf that got tore up pretty bad. He was adamant that a coyote was responsible for the carnage. Who am I to contest it (although I truly believe the culprit was a domestic dog)? Finally met him one day after work to look over the setup. Rough, sagey bottom land line by cedar scrub and limestone. Plenty of cover and saw several sets of yote tracks In the mud. A couple days later, the wind was right to setup the way I felt would yield the best opportunity for coyote hair. Brought along my ruger compact 243, since fox or bobcat were not on the menu. Was using the lil dominator open reed call. Opened with a couple howls to break the ice and had a distance response, but not a dog that would be willing to make up that kind of distance. went to raspy distress. 4 minutes in- I could hear him running, before I saw him. Big reddish male, traversing the bluffs heading my way. He disappeared behind a bluff so I saw the gap he would surely cross, an electrical right of way no more than 50 yards to my west. I scooted around to gain position, and as shifted my head I saw a coyote closing the distance fast. Gray female, with a screw up front leg. despite her bad wheel, she was committed to the hunt and closing fast. I realized she was the sure thing , so shifted back to my right and brought the gun up. The scope was on 6, a number I selected would be the right medicine for Red Boy, but at 30 yards was a bit much for her. My crosshairs were fading in and out, but I could see them good enough to seal the deal. The 75 gr. sp point anchored her fast. 2 kicks and fat lady singing. 28 pound gray female, with a what looks like a broadhead wound on her right from pastern. sorry for the crappy garage pic, but it was dark when I got her home.

Red blood , I was watching you cat video and couldn't help noticing that right at end something moving up above the cat in the wood line . Yote or maybe another cat?
