Starting a new thread cause don't wanna be called a highjacker.

I doubt Dance even remembers this, had to be close 35 years ago. He is at Center Hill fishing with Darwin Gard. They are using Strike King spinner baits, trying to catch largemouth. I am fishing with the late Harold Dotson. At that time, we both lived at Cove Hollow.

Back then, Velma had a pretty good little eaterie at the dock so we go in for breakfast. We have 18 nice smallmouth in the live well. Bill and Darwin are sitting at a table having breakfast and we all speak etc.

Finally, Darwin says, "Yall doing any good?" Keep in mind it is only about 9:00. Harold says, "Well we have two limits but we threw everything over three pounds back." I wish I could have taken a picture of the look on Bill's face. I don't think they had a fish.

I reminded Bill of that at an outdoor show one year...many years ago. He pretended not to remember.

Bill's a nice guy. I got a lot of respect for him.
 
Super personality and no doubt a great fisherman... but I don't enjoy his show anymore. He only fishes his private, intensively-managed trophy bass lakes in Florida.

Every fish is 5-pounds-plus and I suspect could be caught with a piece of Juicy Fruit stuck on a bream hook. He never fishes where "real" fishermen have to fish anymore.

He's done a show or two recently fishing for catfish in tailwaters (your cup of tea), and I caught one show a few Sundays ago where he was on some river catching stripers. Most of his bass fishing is on private waters, but I still like the content - he spends more time on the technique aspects than some of the other shows.

Most of my enthusiasm is for fly fishing, so very few of the fishing shows really hit my key interests, but if I'm going to watch a fishing show I'd just as soon watch Bill Dance as anybody.

He tried to get the exclusive rights to one of our fishing holes several years ago near Chewalla. He's become a true salesman above a fisherman in the past few decades, but I can't hate a man for doing what I can only dream of. There are tv hunters and fisherman who are much worse.
His boy kills some huge deer by the way.
 
I love this and its true. Bill is a great guy and a great fishermen...the info on his shows gives this. Say what you will, but his mapping is taking straight from Buck Perry's materials...but unlike Buck...he does it on super stocked managed waters...not places where even the state says there are no viable populations of gamefish.

Bill teaches, not showboats. I hear he has a saltwater show coming soon...
 
Oh for Christ sake Tubacca, I spent two days guiding the number one collector of Buck's lures. His name Bob Dennis from Mt. Gilead, NC. He was a close friend of Buck and both of his wives. He has the largest collection of Spoonplugs in the USA and he doesn't think near as much of Buck's fishing ability as you do.

Except his marketing ability.

...I've fished with Buck. I respect you Bowriter, but don't see your point. In fact quite the opposite. If Buck were a marketer, coming in when he did and doing as well as he did...everyone would be trolling spoonplugs and trolling would be allowed in the bass circuits. What you say...makes no sense. So it's your opinion against the Linders, Larry Dahlberg, Rick Clunn, Doug Stange, Spence Petros, Joe Bucher, yada yada yada...

In one boat is Bill. In the other is the camera crew. Both have dealer numbers "TN459Y". He's done it for over 20 years.

Good to see you post today, Gil. I just happened to be at a friend's house today watching the Outdoor Channel. Low and behold, on Jim Zumbo's Outdoors is a trip in Alaska with TNDeer's own Gil Lackey :grin: . Nice to see you at least done a free-roaming show. :cool:

Yeah, Zumbo was courteous enough to not show me whiffing too many ducks and the time I fell on my face when stalking a blacktail. :crazy:
 
So Dr D-What you are saying is a dealer who is trying to sell boats should not have six or eight boats being test driven with the same number on the water at the same time?

Car dealers should not be allowed to have dealer plates with the same number?

Isn't that just a tad petty?
 
When I had consignment boat, it had no registration. I had a certificate of some sort that I kept in the boat. I don't know about Bill's situation, don't really care. But I doubt very much he would do anything illegal. It could cost him his carreer.

How, if you don't own the boat, can you register it?
