So I haven't been out to my local honey hole since muzzle loader and since the farmer stole my son's shooting house. Was letting things settle down while I gave the law enforcement a chance at recovering it. Went out there this evening and a big doe steps out into the lower end of the field. I shot and as I'm walking down I notice the lower edge of the field lays corn spread everywhere. Looks like from a spreader cause you can see the tire marks around the lower end of the field. Drove around all 4 fields and danged if the farmer didn't do it in every one of them. Screws that place up for the year. I'm the master of revenge though so I'm fine with it.

Well that is crazy - sounds like the farmer doesn't want you hunting there any more. Are you leasing it from him for hunting or is he leasing from you for farming rights? Either way - I hope it works out for you.

That dude sounds like one total sorry SOB. I'd get the GW's involved on that one. Not sure they can do anything but i'd let them know about it.

And i'd also like to catch him out there and have a good fist to fist talk with him and never speak of it again. That makes me mad for you

its amazing the lengths some ppl will go to over a deer. i had a guy pour bait around my tree stand a couple years ago,he wasnt trying to get me in trouble.he was sneaking and hunting my stand during the week while i was at work.i found the bait after i got out of the stand one morning. the results would have been the same regardless who put it out there if the the game warden had strolled by. this is why i am against baiting laws.i also use to hunt some property that bordered a guy that baited i am not sure he even hunted but it really screwed up the place i was forking out money to hunt.if i was you id go ahead and call the game warden out there. the only fair thing for them to do is let you continue to hunt the property once they make a note of it. not sure if they will do that but it seems like the right thing to do.

If I remember correctly the landowner leases the farming rights to the farmer and the hunting rights to Poleaxe. My guess is the the farmer pays more so it would be tough to get the backing of the landowner...

A number of years ago I was on a lease where one of the members sat another up by putting out corn and then calling the GW took a while to figger what happen, but I am no longer there don't like to be around that type of person. That is what it sounds like he is trying to do to you. Be careful.

I'm not aware of any farming practice that involves spreading corn out over fields, I would go after him for hunter harassment

I threw evidence into the detectives lap covering the theft of my son's shooting house, pop up, and a scaffolding blind. Witnesses that heard him bragging about it. Witness that saw him trying to move it thro ugh the country 2 weeks after he took it. So sorry but law enforcement is gonna have to sit this one out. Hope his equipment finds that re-bar through the field. Wish I could go on but we'll you know.

Poleaxe...I'd be pissed too but would edit your post above. Don't need any trail back to you. Either way good luck.

x2

Thanks but I'm not talking about physical harm. Sure would've been better if the law would've done their job from the beginning. Got to be the dumbest cop I've ever seen.

Yea but if any of his equipment is harmed and this post is found then you are liable, edit the post and try the cop again, it's your best bet

I know it is said a lot, but 2 wrongs don't make a right. I can't speak for all TWRA agents, but I know the 2 for my county personally and they would love to help in a situation such as this.

soooo..sounds like you shot a deer over bait?? LOL
it's not considered baiting if the hunter doesn't know the bait is there. Now that he knows it's there he can't hunt there anymore

Incorrect on having to know the bait is there.

My post was not implying Poleaxe was in the wrong in this situation of spite baiting. I would be after the person doing the spite baiting.

But, folks also needed to now that catman was not correct in his statement that it is not considered baiting if you don't know it is there. An "I didn't know it was there" is not a ready defense out of a baiting citation.

Your right Steve. Nobody would believe a hunter didn't know it was there if the warden showed up. Pretty slick on his part where he put it. I don't go down in there and he knows that. Thanks. The wardens would need proof if I were to call them on the farmer and he would just lie like he did before and deny it. May get worse before it gets better next year. He don't know it yet but I have the landowner talked into leasing the farming out to someone else and this will make him furious.

That's the best way to handle it, getting the farming rights leased out to someone else will save you a lot of grief

Sounds like you are on the right track John. Take him totally out of the equation. I hate this for brother. Places to hunt are hard enough to come by without loosing one this way.

I cannot fathom why anyone would be interested in leasing a place ike that. Going through all that crpa would take all the funout of hunting for me.

Why are you still dealing with this farmer? Who is calling the shots on this land regarding hunting rights? Is it the land owner, the farmer or you?

To be honest I don't recon anybody is but the farmer is one up on me. The 115acre farm is divided off into 7 family members. We have taken 15 deer off that place this year so I don't want to loose it. Anytime you get the owner involved it doesn't end good for the hunter. So I'm buying my time too while his days are numbered.
