It's way past time to thin my coon population down to give the turkeys some help. Walked around my pasture one night and saw 13 coons, couple possums and skunks. Ordered a dozen DPs and got most of them set this evening. Checked some dens I knew of and sign was easy to come by.

nice freaking work! i need to figure out how to set these dogless traps, got two, but they just sitting
I did go ahead and order a $4 setting tool when I ordered traps. Used it when I set yesterday but just set them by hand today. It's easier to have them spike down on ground or anywhere that gives a little leverage. Squeeze with both hands and keep dog where you can get ahold of it. Once you get it going far enough you can use dog to help get it broke on over and set the trigger

I use an old broken tip screwdriver to set mine. Costs $0 and if I lose it who cares, I have others.
Put the tip of the screwdriver under the spring axle, then use it to lever the trap into the ready position, flip the dog and set. Saves your hands when its cold out.
