Got some new calls

I ordered up a few new calls Friday and they got here today. Was wondering if any of you guys on here used any of them. I got me a CritR call, a Tally-Ho, and a Tweety made by Verminater. They are all open reed calls which I have not used, but did not have much trouble making some distress call with. Of the 3, the Tweety sounds the best and easiest to use with the CritR coming in second. Also got me a new decoy coming in. Now if I could just get the time to get out and really put some time in on some sets. I need to get some blood on my new Savage 22-250.
 
Production calls will do just fine , but I'm a huge fan of the customs. My collection is growing every week!! Just now at around 15 customs with 5-6 more on the way in the next two weeks. It's become an addiction. Thinking about turning my own calls soon!!
 
Have any of you tried out Crack Calls?
Great calls and they sound very natural. I am actually in touch with the owner. If you guys are interested, I can get him to do a group buy for the cottontail call. We would have to spend at least $250 for him to give us a good discount. But they are well worth every penny he wants for them. They're all I use for distress calls.

I have been wanting to get a couple of thous crack calls i have heard alot of good things about them i would b interested in gettinf a couple of them if u can get some more people also so we could get a discount
 
A matching set of customs I picked up a few weeks ago. They sound just as good as they look!! No production call will equal the beauty of some of these calls. Most of the good customs are easier to use and require less effort to run and are better tuned . Average price $40

Crack Calls are custom calls. If that's what you are referring to. They're all hand made just like the ones you have above, save for acrylic calls. They just don't have the look you would expect from a custom call. With that said, I don't think a dead coyote cares what a mouth call looks like anyhow! I think he was going with the KISS theory.

Your exactly right ... They don't care what they look like but for $30 I would much rather have the "form" with the function . That's just my personal opinion. I'm not doubting the crack calls, I'm sure they are great calls. Is each call individually hand turned or made on a cnc lathe?? That to me would be some what indicative of a true custom although most still use production style tone boards!! I like the little crack howler . That would be a cool little call and I just got a catnip by primos. I'm not at all oppposed to production calls as they are way more affordable and in some cases sound just as good! The verminator series of calls are very nice little production/hand tuned calls. Check out Kerry carver of carver custom predator calls. He has a couple 4 or 5 piece sets that are an awesome price and offer a hand tuned call.
 
I don't know if they're hand turned or not. It would be interesting to find out. I'll contact him and see what he says. To me looks have no bearing on how a call should function. I see it as paying for the sound not the looks. Just opinion though. But to each his own.
As far as a group buy goes, I'm sure we can work something out with him for a variety of calls. I just don't want to do a group buy unless we have enough interested to go above and beyond the $250 mark. I may be able to get him to go a little lower. I'll keep ya posted.

Either way it would be cool to get enough of us interested to make a group buy from any one of the custom makers. I'll go check out the Kerry Carver calls, they sound interesting.
