Got one this morning!

I was sitting on my front porch drinking coffee this morning when a coyote came walking across my field. I slipped into the house and grabbed my .22. I thought she might keep coming closer to the house but she turned around and began to walk back toward the woods. I didn't think I had a chance since the .22 was loaded with short hollow points but I only had one chance when she stopped. Bang. Jump & flop, get up and run about 30 yards and fall. I knew it was a long shot but nailed her. I measured with my range finder and it was 135 yards. Little .22 shorts are more deadly than I thought.

Way to go!! It is surprising that a rimfire short could do that at 135 yds. Where did you hit it?

I seen 2 out the other day within 5 mins of each other. And they were all near houses.

I don't blame you from being skeptical. If I had not done it myself, I wouldn't beleive it either. I aimed about 18" above her as she was stopped. The little bullet hit her in the heart. Here is a pic of her and my good old Remington speedmaster.
If the pic doesn't copy, I will try again. P.S. - One of the guys that I turkey hunt with and I ended up killing fou r yotes during turkey season. All of them came to hen yelping. Putting the hurt on them this year.

Here is one of four that was killed during turkey season. Big male. Got him at 15 yards with the 12 ga using 3 1/2 in heavy shot.

Good job.. we use shorts to coon hunt years ago so they would have life left in them. Suprised it got her as they only penetrated an inch or so on coon butts from 40 ft . The wind must have gotten behind that one ..lol

It is amazing what a .22 of any design can do sometimes, good reason to be mindfull of where that round ends up. Sounds like this was the ol Golden BB rule, it just takes one, in the right spot. At any rate, keep chootin em!

Great shot. I don't have the skills to take that shot without a good chance of just wounding it. I hate to see anything suffer so I'll stick with the big guns. Now that I think of it, I probably couldn't have even hit it at that range with a short. Nice shootin.
