got eat up with chiggers and or poison oak out checking stands
this weekend I hope it goes away by opening morning!!!

any tips or home remedies to kick the itch

In the same boat! Moved two stands Saturday, and got a whole flock of seed Ticks on me:)). Makes me itch just thinking about it.

Permanone is wonder cure. Best advise is don't itch too much. Try Benadryl creme

I've gotten in chiggers real bad in the past, I've always got in the bathtub 3/4 full then pour bout half a gallon of Clorox in there. Soak for bout 30 minutes, dries you out but kills the chiggers. How bad it burns depends on how bad you've already scratched em ;)

And I don't have the problem anymore, Permanone is the best prevention ever created.. All my clothing and boots gets sprayed down heavy the night before.. Never get anything on me..

permanone

x100 I won't head to the woods without it this time of year.

I am getting ready to head over to Amazon and restock with the Martin's 10%. I saw one price of $21.50 for 32 oz with free shipping. That will make up 30+ bottles that are selling at Wallyworld for $9.99 ea.

Update, it was $20.40 for 32 oz with free shipping.

Was in the woods and fields all day Sunday, we moved 3 stands, checked 2 others, and checked zero on 6 different guns. Not a single tick. The secret---permanone--don't leave home without it. I would have been devoured where we were without it.

chiggers and ticks hardly bother me anymore. This time of year I dont' go in the woods without slipping on long sleeved pants that are sprayed good with permethrin.

Mosquitoes are different, I never have any deet or other bug spray like that so I will get eaten by mosquitoes if they are bad. Not so much a problem because the bites only swell up for a little while and dont hardly itch. I only hate the feeling of a mosquito poking its snout into me, I cant stand that, but I can see them and I can squash them unlike chiggers and ticks. Mosquito bites go away but chiggers and ticks last for days.

If I get poison ivy, most of the time I know where it's from because I saw it when I ran into it. I try to avoid it but sometimes it's in the way and I don't care.

Also I think Permanone is a brand name, Permethrin is the chemical that does the magic, do yourself a favor and buy Permethrin-10 in the equestrian section at TSC or Co-op, mix 1 ounce into a 16 ounce spray bottle of water, shake before use and coat your pants and clothes and let it dry before wearing. Mixing your own Permethrin-10 will save a lot of money and that little bottle of 10% permethrin will last for at least several seasons unlike one bottle of permethrin-based bug spray.

I am with most others, not much advice for remedies on the current situation but more on prevention with permethrin. I was walking through the camping section at Walmart and noticed a yellow box and it was Sawyer Insect repellent with permethrin. It was on sale and I decided to give it a shot given all the good reports. I am happy to say I have been tick and chigger free for over a year now. All deer season last Fall, turkey this Spring, all Summer scouting, food plots and stand hanging. I spray my clothes the night before use and will even wear them a couple times in the field if I don't stick 'em up too bad and it works great every time. I also tuck my pants in my boots and tie 'em up tight and also wear a belt and tuck my shirt in. I am going to give a try to mixing my own since the Sawyer only does 3 treatments for $10.

Done the Clorox by putting on rag with a lil water and try and open the bites up the burn tells me it's working this was before I started using sawyers (at academy) think I will try the 10%

Just remember that clothing designed to stop ticks will NOT necessarily stop chiggers. Chiggers are microscopic and can climb right through the weave of just about any cloth.
