it's one the goose species.. i.e. lesser canada goose.
i don't much about them except they're smaller..

Yup thats pretty much correct. They are just another species of goose. There are greater and lesser canadian and snow geese. But to be plain and simple they both look identical but just smaller in size.

Personally i think the lesser Canadas are really becoming more common, we used to shoot alot of the big boy Canadas in mid tn but the last couple of years i can only think of one. We busted ten this year in early goose season and they were all lessers. I like the big boys myself, kind of like a big buck verse a basket rack to me. Funny thing is teal are my favorite duck to shoot. Some of my family just got back from Canada and the guide told them it was mostly lessers there now.
