The hickories were good to me this morning. Had 5 by 7:30. It really slowed down on my ridge after that so I started heading back to the car as I had to pick my daughter up at 9:00. Found 2 chasing each other around on a dead snag 100 yards from where I parked. Killed their buddy out of an adjacent scaly bark. Stopped at a small woodlot down the road from my mom's house and boy oh boy did I ever find the squirrels. Finished my limit up in a couple of minutes and know for sure where my next hunt will start. Didn't shoot just real well but not terrible for the first hunt of the year. Can't wait to do it again now.
 
That's what I'm talking about, congrats on a limit with the .22. Thanks for sharing. Were they in hickories at the second place you stopped and finished your limit?

Yeah. There were probably 15+ in 3 adjacent scaly barks. Ground under them looked like they were operating a sawmill in the trees.

First mess of the year always goes to a family member of mine that isn't physically able to hunt anymore. I'll keep a few later in the year to fry up like my granny always did.
