Good deal or not

I was in a pawn shop this afternoon and saw a NEF single shot .243 with a Simmons 3x9x50 scope. Not a scratch on the wood and I looked down the barrel and it looked really clean. I wasn't necessarily in the market to buy my son a gun yet (he'll be 6 in March) but he was asking $179 for it and thought that to be a good deal. What's your thoughts?

That is a good deal, but I would make sure that barrel is in good shape if at all possible.

I just saw someone mentioned the Rossi combo w/ 3 barrels for $219 at Richard's

I think that is a little high for the single gun, and the scope is junk in my book.

Yeah I saw the Rossi the other day but it seems every time the Rossis come up for discussion it's split 50 / 50 on no problems vs. those with problems and it's kind of made me gun shy to be honest. Not super worried about the scope at this point. I had a NEF .223 one time and it was a tack driver.

I am not knocking the gun at all, I have no use for Simmons scopes....................I'd rather use open or peep sight before I used a Simmons. (My personal opinion)The question here is do you think the price is good, it's your money. Point being, if you did, you would have bought it already. I think it is a little high thats all.

If you were looking for one that gun exclusively and this was the only one you found, different story. Make them an offer.
