They say you have to WORK for chufa the first few years, maintaining weeds and such but I've never messed with it
 
I planted it once. The weeds took it over quickly. Never noticed an increase in bird usage over my standard fall plots. Maybe i wasn't diligent enough for it to thrive.

I couldn't get it to grow could, I planted it three times, three years in a row. I just don't think it grows good with where I have to plant it.

It is really good for turkeys. I've seen places where it was used and they loved it.

Tried several times in different types of soil...no dice. I get a few plants here and there but they never made any nuts. My chufa planting days are over.

Yes boll weevil, mine was the same. Not enough nuts to do anything.
