Starting my last week bowhunting this year . Going to my West Knoxville spot tomorrow to hopefully shoot a few does . It would be nice to kill a few more deer with the hunting bow before I sell it next week . Gotta get ready for Indoor and 3-D season . :)

I know this post isn't really informative or that interesting but this place has been dead since the new site and I had to post something . Lol :P

Re: Going in the AM

We are having our indoor league up here in Knoxville . Our club is hosting the Indoor state this year again as well . As for 3-D , I am going to be shooting and judging targets here locally untill late March when the ASA tournaments go to Ft. Benning . Hopefully bucks2beard and a few other will get their ranges set and have a few shoots before then .

Good deal! I've never shot indoor or 3d and I'm going to give it a try. I know I'm gonna shoot the harvest archery events, but may try to make a few of the bucks2beards events.

Stik, it's at Smoky Mountain Archers . It is the Archery club in th John Seveir range off of Rifle Range rd. In north Knox . I know it's a pretty good drive for you guys , but it's a great bunch of people up here .

If you want to find something a little closer , the guys at bowhunters pro shop in maryville are having a league as well . But I don't have any info on that .

Hey that's a good looking deer! I just got my first bow for Christmas (ok so I've been playing with it early) and I am really looking foward to learning more about the sport. I've seen the Smokey Mountain Archers page before but havnt had time to head out thay way yet. Just curious if you guys have any programs geared twords beginners or any other general advice on places to shoot in Knoxville/Oak Ridge area.

Oak ridge has an archery range as well at the gun club . SMA in Knoxville is a good place to join if you are just starting . Where are you located exactly ? There are a few other practice ranges around , just trying to see which ones your closer too .

I'm in Oak Ridge, I know they have a sportsman's club here but havnt been able to find out much about there Archery following.

I have a few friends that are members out there . They say their archery range is a pretty good one . Although I have never been to it .

Assume the winter league SMA has listed is more for people who know what they are doing?
Kind of , but it is just for fun anyway . It is designed so it is fair to everyone . You start off with a handicap and as long as you improve every week you could still do well . It's mainly just a reason for a bunch of people to get together once a week and shoot . It's a lot of fun .

That does sound like a lot of fun. I'll probably see if I can make it out there. Would be really nice to meet a bunch of people who shoot. Especially when fun things happen, like today my peep sight came off...don't know what I would do with out youtube.

I'd really love to find some people who might be interested it mentoring me some in hunting. Didn't grow up in a hunting family, so I'm pretty much trying to teach myself everything (to get started) by next deer season.
