Rain will stop overnight so I hope it's good tomorrow. Mudbone might set up where I kilt the first buck early November. I'd like to setup where I killed buck 2 but with the wind it would blow my scent toward some of the bedding cover and ole nanner doe lives in there somewhere an guaranteed she would come in downwind if I saw her... So I might set up 40 yd from mudbone in my wooden stand where much bedding is upwind and most shots are downwind but by that time it would be too late for unfortunate deer. Hope to see movement, might pass on everything but an old doe, old buck or big racked buck. Will be happy to sit in a tree no matter what.
 
Be aware that climbers can tend to lose a little of their bite and stability on wet trees. Take a little extra care.

Your climber would still be a safer bet than that wooden stand you showed me.
 
Thanks. I killed that first buck out of a dang hackberry. My stand was crooked, about 15 feet up and didn't bite very well. But it was the best tree to shoot from. If I sit in the wooden stand ill be wearing the harness up there as well.
 
Well here's an update. It was a great morning. I set up in the woods and mudbone set up 40 yd behind me on the bank of the creek. I never heard any deer come in till I heard a "thwack" coming from behind me and saw the bushes thrashing below mudbones stand. Long story short he got a nice sized doe and I had him try to drive the rest of the deer back to me when he got down to finish her off. He went along the bank and drove them toward me and I saw one coming my way but it magically disappeared back into the privet. He found all their beds too and I have that designated as a sanctuary zone now... Stay out of it unless tracking a deer. I think he also saw the ole nanner doe I am wanting to kill. That is a very smart old doe too. Was a good day in the woods to be bow hunting.
 
Hackberry and shaggy bark hickories are especially dangerous to climb in that stand. I would not hunt from ANY stand that is crooked on the tree. That is asking for trouble.

I hunted out of a straight up ash tree this morning but I killed buck #1 out of the hackberry and yes I don't prefer the slippery nasty trees like that. But if it holds me and my safety harness and is in the right location I'm climbing it...
