He gobbled pretty good on the limb - 20 or so times before flydown. One gobble shortly after flydown confirmed that he didn't pitch my way. After 45 minutes of slow maneuvering, he gobbled 3 times at a crow. I got positioned as best I could and he cut off my first yelp. His last gobble before being gobbled out was at 6:40, about a second before I touched off the shot. Skinny, wet, muddy, swamp gobblers are probably my favorite kind.

My time is running out and this would be my third year not going. Gotta at least make a run at one after they destroyed a couple of my food plots.

Congrats. It's been an off year for me thank to TWRA and their delaying the opening. We missed the best part of the season here. 😡

Why has it been an off year? We go back to the old dates most ppl gone complain cuz they're henned up now they complain cuz they wouldn't gobble. It's not only Tennessee, A lot of other states are having the same issue.

Yup.

I know some good turkey hunters, whose opinions I trust, who do not like the delayed dates. So I respect their opinions/observations. But personally, I don't see it. I found gobbling turkeys opening week, I found gobbling turkeys this week, and I found gobbling turkeys most weeks in between. Multiple West TN counties, public and private. Same story last year.

Statewide, peak nest initiation (when a hen starts laying eggs) is around April 26th. Due to renesting hens and late-breeding jennies, there is a second substantial peak around May 17th. And they typically continue breeding after starting a nest. They don't hibernate in May.

Yep, should be perfect this weekend around 90 degrees. Definitely prime time. Getting after em all day Saturday . Hopefully it warms up a little more before the Memorial day weekend hunt. 😂, Been a strange year indeed. Congratulations on a great Gobbler, they are still out for the taking.

Oh , I know you can't control the weather. I am hunting em if it's 100! I couldn't hunt the last 6 days as they expect me to show up at work!!!! I don't know what they are thinking, it's turkey season! I do get out and listen some before work.
