Does anyone set goals or make a wishlist for their upcoming fishing season?

One of mine has been the same for a while but I am adding a couple this year.

1) Catch a TARP bream.
2) Catch a 20+ inch rainbow and brown trout.
3) Catch a trout on my flyrod.
4) Catch a fish with a fly that I tie.

Mine is to catch a bass over 6lbs.
Catch a bream over 2lbs.
Catch at least 1 catfish from my lake (any size will make me happy)

I would like to catch at least one more TARP species, that would bump me to Master Angler level II. 8-) I hear ya on the TARP Bream Ruger, all of them stop growing at 9 3/4" :bash:

*Brake my own personal best catfish record!
*Fish and explorer New Places
*Catch a Fish species I have not caught yet. Got a couple on my mind.
* Have as much fun as possible and make good memories with my dad and girlfriend.

3. Get back to crappie fishing some
4. Get a little more serious and learn more about bass fishing
5. Go back to Gulf Shores and fish the lagoon from my kayak.
6. Help Ruger catch a big brown and learn from scn how to catch a bigger one on a flyrod :P

You're likely to learn how not to catch a bigger fish on a flyrod from me. While maybe not a beginner any more, I'm still learning as well. But, I do look forward to getting over there with you sometime!

catch a 48 inch or longer rockfish
catch a rockfish on a fly with a spinning rod
catch a 28 inch or longer brown trouuuuut
catch a 50 inch or longer muskellunge
and get that 10 + lber bucketmouth i lost last spring on a aerial headshake

Fish more......Stress less

1. Fish new water.
I've got a June trip to AEP Recreation land already planned. I'd like to do a TN bream trip sometime and somewhere this spring. I'd also like to explore some more wild trout streams in the northeast corner of the state.

2. Post more trip reports on tndeer.
I fried one camera this summer by falling in, and I just realized my dslr with a macro lens is simply gone. I had it shoved barrel first into a hunting boot the other week when I went on a hunting trip. I got the flu and never even got out of bed. No pictures were taken and the camera is simply gone. I've got a little waterproof point and shoot that takes crappy pics and I'm seeing if an old dslr has a good battery. If so, I'll order a new macro lens and be back in business.

3. Buy a new fishing vessel.
Probably some sort of SOT kayak. I've used a Native Ultimate and I'm leaning that way but plan of checking several others out before pulling the trigger.

4. Spend more time fishing warmwater species.
I live 15 minutes from 2 lakes. I need to take advantage of this.

5. Eat more fish that I catch.

My goal is to get my Boat Motor fixed or replaced and then have a flawlessy running motor all summer.

While our motors are drastically different, that is what I did last year and it was AWESOME !!! :D

:poke:

Most of my fishing goals are saltwater related and they begin in april, but as for any goals around here it would be just to fish more.

I only have one main goal: to fish more!

Otherwise:
* try kayak fishing. I don't have a kayak, but I know a few state parks in Arkansas in the Jonesboro area that rents them. I plan on checking them out. Jonesboro is about an hour from home, so I can either make a day trip out of it, or camp out overnight.

* get a kayak. I am leaning towards the SOT yaks. Just a matter of getting the money together to get one. And rig it up.

* I'd really love to do some saltwater fishing. Gonna try to go to Marco Island, FL to fish with my dad, my uncle and his buddies. Especially since they know what they're doing and can teach me while they still get out and fish.

* fish some new waters in TN, or visit some I haven't fished in a while. Like Sunk Lake, Lower Hatchie NWR, Wolf River, etc.

Fish more
Learn how to catch a walleye on purpose. (center hill)
Learn how to catch a rockfish on purpose. (cordell hull or cumberland)
figure out how to catch crappie consistently rather than luck into them once a season.

Finish tweaking the boat layout for more comfortable fishing.

I did goals last year and hit most of them. One I didn't bother with (learn how to fish for Walleye) and one I was very close (Catch a TARP largemouth, biggest was 21.25")

1] Catch a TARP largemouth!!
2] Take a serious trip to brackish water to chase specks and reds and catch a bunch of each.
3] Take people kayak fishing and get them as addicted to the sport as I am.
4] Win a kayak bass fishing tournament somewhere. I won one last year on Old Hickory and would like to win one every year.

Tight lines in 2015 and God bless!

Catch,or be in the boat when a friend catches a 6 lb smallmouth.Ive caught hundreds, starting to think a true 6 lbr does not exist.

I got extremely lucky the year after I moved here and caught one 6 1/2 pounds.... didn't really sink in what I had done then.

Catch and release a legal 24" brown at Caney. 17-18 inch is my biggest so far.
Catch a limit of crappie! Getting hungry just thinking of it.
