The last two mornings, I've had one gobble on roost. He'll respond to my calls but won't head my direction. Both mornings, he's gone in the opposite direction. I think my calling sucks.

the one I shot this morning had hens with him would gobble at calls, bout 830 seen hens feeding behind me,started getting aggressive on the call, got them really mad an loud more than he could take, come 150 yards quick busted me looking at the hens behind me luckily got back on him before out of range

This morning had a gobbler roosted across holler from me,he started gobbling 20 minutes before daylight ànd gobbled 25 times or more. When he flew down he went away from me with hens and gobbled four times on the ground over the next 30 minutes, hens will sure mess you up like others told you, that is what happened to you!

That's nature doing its thing. They old toms love to sit in a tree and gobble until a hen comes in sight, then fly down to them.
