giles usually kicks in just a little before Lawrence and wayne.........my nephew busted one this morning at laurel hill and it was chasing does.........while going back to his truck after shooting it he had another buck chasing another doe cross in front of him. Best activity I have heard of. I am starting to see a little of the big ones get up and move starting today. Should be interesting this next week. I am on vacation.
 
My hunting partner hunted our Giles county lease this weekend and saw some young bucks pestering does, this afternoon while driving on hwy 64 I saw 2 shooter bucks feeding together on the side of the road in frankewing but then I saw a shooter buck with some does right outside of Pulaski.
 
I have only seen does where I hunt SW of Pulaski. Lots of does in groups of 4 to 6. The only bucks spotted in the past few days were spikes. Seems the acorns have been cleaned up in my area and all deer I've seen have been in pasture and fields.
 
On my land, mostly does. The cams in the holler have had some pix of a spike and 4pointer but the big bucks from last year haven't made an appearance. I haven't been out in Muzzle loader season - just busy with other stuff - but plan to be out Saturday. I'd like to get the spike or 4 pointer and a doe for the freezer - I'm thinking lots of sausage this go around AJ does an outstanding job with the sausage!
 
Went out Friday afternoon. Have not been to this farm since Opening day Bow season.
Seen only 1 doe, who looked like she had a baseball on one of her ankles. Snake bite??
Anyways- no action, rubs or scrapes. Plenty of fresh trails. This property used to be loaded down with deer. Last 2 years has been a horrible decline. EHD? Over hunting? Not sure- pretty disappointed.
I will try on Thursday morning hunt till 1pm and see if anything shakes out...
 
I was hunting few miles south of Pulaski last Thursday and there was a 6 point with his nose to the ground behind a doe. It was cool watching him run her around.

Yesterday had 4 does early evening feeding hoping buck would come out, but nothing. A bit later right at dark a 4 point came out where a doe was feeding and he wasn't interested in her at all. Fed right along side of her.
 
Ill be hunting Giles near bunker hill Thursday Morning. Depending on what I see will dictate if I pick up and head to Fayetteville for the weekend....
 
Ive been out almost everyday on my land for a few hours each time. Last year this area was infested with deer. This year the exact opposite. Not sure why. This morning saw a doe this morning but didn't have a shot and she may have seen me first - don't know. She got into the brush and was gone - not running though. Later saw a yote on the hillside. He was on my right hand side and moving at a fairly steady trot, I'm a left handed guy so couldnt get around to get a good look. Could this be spooking the deer? I've never looked much into coyote habits so don't know if they are territorial or he was just passing thru. Ive heard them in the fields nearby every so often but if this is going to be an issue for turkeys and deer then I may start doing some c-hunting.

i wouldn't shoot any does if i thought the population had plummeted
 
I'm not sure. I don't think so, however everybody is scarce right now. Last summer/fall I had 7 does on the trail cam down there and averaged at least 5 per week. Most of Muzzle loader there were plenty on the cams and in my yard - but just a week before gun season everyone disappeared. I just got back from being down there this AM and have a small doe, large doe, and 6 pointer on the cams - buck was nocturnal - does came around during the day. It just may be pressure in the surrounding fields - we'll see - I don't think the population has shrunk - they stopped being around last year mid december or so but this year that happened earlier. There were plenty eating my fruit trees last summer - they cleaned several apple trees and some pears. I had to shoo them off. I doubt seriously if they all got killed this season.
