I have been blessed with many fine deer seasons, many great trips to the lake. I witnessed both my daughters accept Christ, and have a 4yr old Grandson. God has always seen fit to bless me regardless of how undeserving I am, and let me say I am truly thankful. But as I crowd 50 (October) I am really noticing little things, back aches, sore joints forgetfulness etc.etc.etc, But what really hurts is my right shoulder and left elbow! I can still shoot pretty well but cant shoot as long or as often as i want to, due to the pain!!! I tell ya, gettin old sucks.

Most of my older friends told me.It will hit you when you hit 50.That was 11 years ago.
Probabbly hunt more now then when i was 50.
Stay active, make yourself get up and go.Walk your property all year long, stay in the woods all year.
Bow practice is tuff on us old guys.Used to shoot 40-50 arrows everyday. Now its more like 5-10 a day 2-3 days a week.Just make sure your practice is "perfect practice".
Oh yeah.Cannt live without 200mg of Celebrex aday.

Amen Brother!! You do have to work harder after 50 to be able to do all the things you did at 40 with little effort.

SUCKS getting OLD, but the alternative is better in my opinon, just not in a big hurt to exercise that option at this time. To many big bucks left to kill, and to much to teach my grandson.

I turned 67 in July. Was shooting an older model bow at 60# with about 50% let off. Last week I bought a PSE Stinger 3G set at 50# with 75 % let off. It is 12 1\2 pounds at full draw. It is as fast or faster than my old 60# bow. It will extend my bow hunting time and be less demanding on my body. I still use a climbing tree stand (Loggy bayou) but it gets harder every year.

I,m with you friend.Dropped to a 60lber 5 years ago.May very well go to a 50 next year.I'll do this before trying a crossbow.

Im 52 , and I have lifted weights since I was 18 , but I shoot 60 lbs. now because of a nagging shoulder injury suffered years ago by shooting a heavy draw weight bow.

Im 57 this week, I still use the climber, carry it to the woods each time, but did break down and got a cart to carry out the deer
It is rough walking out sometimes at 5 in the morning and climbing that tree, but its well worth the view each morning watching the sun come up
But I do sometimes on those days when the aches are around, I carry the pop up out to the woods and my stool, guess maybe that is cheating a bit, but what the heck

Just read these posts, I gotta tell ya, I'm on the downhill slide to 70, retired firefighter, 2 yrs. after I retired I came down with cancer, have had two operations and need one more. Just started bow hunting again. Purchased a Mathews Mission Craze and lightened her down to 58Lbs. 100% DAV courtesy of Agent Orange found out about it after I got sick with cancer. I now have multiple problems related to agent orange. It is very hard to walk about 100 yds. without my hips and knees aching the rest of the day. Before I retired, I could put most men in my back pocket and climb a telephone pole backwards just to prove a point. Now its hard to go grocery shopping. So, think getting old sucks ? Thats an understatment. But we old guys still find ways to get out and hunt and fish. Good luck this season boys , safety first, Old Guy

All the busted up hands from fighting and riding dirt bikes for years have me feeling pretty rough some days at 28 I'm dreading 50 lol
I hear that :D I am 27 and have Been logging for 8 years and feel like crap. Hope I am still kicking at 50 :D

I was a heavy drinker and with the Grace of God I was able to quit and not touch another drop. Alcohol ages the body rapidly and sends many a young man to the grave. Its amazing how revitalized my body and mind is being sober.
