Called for 100% rain today and it did, but that doesn't usually stop us from going. Took the better part of the day but we managed 2 limits from Douglas Lake today. Going next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and then taking a break to catch some white bass on Saturday. I love it

Wow, look at the belly on the third one down from the top. I'd say she had a few eggs in her for sure. How long did that big one measure? Definitely a better-than-average fish!

This time of year, there are too many different fish biting. I don't know whether to go for trout, or crappie, or sauger, or white bass, or stripers, or walleye...

19", 2lbs 7oz and she was full of eggs. The one under her was 17.5" and was full of eggs. Evidently all the rest were males.
 
Were you fishing above or below Walters bridge? A mile or so below the bridge, where the river makes a 90 degree turn away fromt the Newport highway, is usally a hot spot for the big jig and minnow.
 
Which is at point 18 and that's where we were. Now that they are running they can be caught as far up as you can go in a boat.
 
Yes you can't go very far upriver until you hit the shoals. When I lived up that way, I used to walk across the railroad tresle at Leadvale. Pretty good fishing there too using smaller flies with minnows.
 
:cool:! I haven't got on any of those yet this year but hopefully I will this week. I went down to check things out at my camper Sunday and seen a couple of boats up around Swan's but that was it. We stopped by Leadvale just to see if anybody was doing any good and the cold rain must of slowed things down because the fishing was slow. There was a lot of people on the banks but not many fish at all were being caught. Hey Shopson if I have trouble catching some fish I might have to hire you as my guide :)
 
We are fishing Wed thru Fri from 18 to above Walters and then Saturday going to Ledvalle for white bass. Nolichucky side is muddy but lake needed some color put in it. Lake is rising a foot a day with the rivers being up a little. Wading below the tressel at Ledvalle will end soon. Like to get one good white bass trip in before turkey season opens.
