"The attached picture was taken of me on Oct 2, 1976 when we beat Bama 21-0. When we got to the trestle that morning at about 5:30am, the trestle was already packed!!! So I went back to the truck, got my deer stand, and went up the power pole, and watched the game. Beer was involved.

There was no seat portion, just one platform that could be used to stand or sit on.

Hug the pole, and lift the stand with your feet at an angle and repeat. As hard as that was, coming down was even harder.

I only tried it once with my dads. Got about 6 ft off the ground and quickly realized that I had made a mistake. I ended up having to jump down as, being a bigger guy, I didn't have the core strength to walk it down the tree.

Stand? more like a trap door!!! I spent a buncha time in one of those things and was one of the lucky ones that never did the " Baker slide" to the ground!

Still have the scars to show for it i left one hanging about ten feet up a tree where it caught and threw me to the ground, that was in chuckswan in the late 80's

I found one of those stands at a yard sale about 15 years ago for like $20 with a home made hand climber. I was going to make it like a hang on stand with a wooden ladder. My wife was pregnant and with me. When we went to pay for everything the guy just looked at my wife and told me he couldn't sell me the stand . Said he was just going to throw it away, but he couldn't sell it to me.

I still have one up in the garage attic and there it will stay until I'm gone

That is the whole stand. There wasnt a hand climber or seat climber with those. They were grip and groan
