Garmin or Athlon chronograph?

I'm at a point that I'm probably going to replace my current, old school Chrony chronograph. I've been looking at the Garmin Xero and the Athlon Rangecraft. Leaning towards the Athlon due to price but would like to hear about anyone's experiences using either unit before dropping the cash on one or the other. Thanks.

There's been some complaints with the Athlon. If they get worked out I think it could be a good cheap option

I went with the Athlon personally. Watched a TON of videos compairing it side by side with the garmin and they were within 2-3fps of each other on most all of them. For the price I can take that personally.

You are welcome to drive that long 2 miles to my house and borrow it if you want :)

I bought an athlon, but been recovering from shoulder surgery and haven't been able to use it yet. Hoping to try it out soon.

I purchased the Garmin some time back. I cannot say a single bad thing about it. It was so refreshing to be able to put it on the bench and just shoot. Every shot is detected unlike the LabRadar.

I saw the Xero listed for $449 the other day. I think if you look around, you can find it closer in price (as opposed to MSRP) to the Athlon if that's the route you choose.

Decided to just bite the bullet. Dropped the cash on an Athlon after watching and reading quite a few reviews and comparisons over that last couple of days. I appreciate the input. Thanks.

I purchased the Athlon. I have only been to the range once; however, it picked-up every shot on the rifle range and pistol range. I do not have access to a Garmin to compare it to; but, it did everything I asked it to do.

Back in January I bought an open box Garmin and saved about $50. I've only used it 3 times but WOW! I had not used my old Shooting Chrony Beta Master in over 10 years. It was just a pain to set up and I hated the thing. However, I have no excuse now with this pocket sized Garmin. Reviews on the Athlon side by side with the Garmin are a toss up and only time will tell which holds up.
